This Month:

ESP DICE!

Hand someone two dice.  While your back is turned, have them roll the dice on to the table and count up the total showing.  With your back still turned to your friend, instruct him to turn over either of the two real dice and add the number on the bottom to their total.  Then roll that die again and add the new top number.  You now turn around and with one look at the dice you can tell your friend exactly what total they are thinking of!

Here's how: Add 7 to the total you see on the two dice.  Any time you add the bottom number to the top number of any six sided die you will get the number seven.

Here's another way of doing it:  After adding the bottom of the first die and re-rolling it, have your friend add the bottom of the second die and roll it too, adding it's new top number to his total.  Now turn around and add 14 to the numbers you see on the dice.

That will be his total!

Want to make it more mysterious to your friends?  Of course you do!

Before announcing their thought of total, pick up the two dice and roll them again.  Stare at the dice for a while, then announce the total.  They will wonder what your roll had to do with their total.

Check back next month for a new Gotcha!
